Thank you West Vincent Voters

Both John and I would like to thank all of the West Vincent Republican voters that came out to vote for us. We will not let you down. To those voters that did not vote for us, we want you to know that we represent your opinions and insight to the Republican Party also. We are in this together and will work to make the Republican Party a better and stronger party for all of us.

We have many plans to keep the Republican voters of West Vincent up to date politically. This will help in making more educated decisions on candidates. Face it, we have all played the "Pick the Candidate" dartboard game on occasion and hopefully we can make a difference. Thanks again and you will be hearing from us shortly.

WHO ARE
JOHN AND MARIA JACOBS?

ABOUT
Maria and John Jacobs have happily called Chester County their home throughout their 20 year marriage. After raising two children, they moved from Upper Uwchland to West Vincent Township in 2000 where they presently reside. Both John and Maria previously worked in the real estate management industry until they were able to realize their dream of owning a family-run business. In 1995 John left his position as VP of one of Philadelphia’s largest commercial real estate management firms to open Somerset Nursery in Glenmoore with a partner. During those start up years, Maria  continued her career as Chief Operating Officer of a large Multi-family real estate management company, joining the family business in 2006. Owning their own business allows them the freedom to pursue civic and non-profit volunteer leadership positions near and dear to their hearts.

A POLITICAL AWAKENING
The thought of running for the Republican Committee positions did not occur to the Jacobs’ until their beloved Horse Show Grounds came under attack by the West Vincent Supervisors in November of 2011. During this time, they had first-hand knowledge of the Township’s ability to spin tales about the supposed “failed negotiations” with the Horse Show folks and the blatant misuse of power throughout the township officials. The more they investigated the township, the more concerned they became. Even though the Eminent Domain Resolution was rescinded, there are still Horse Show/Township issues. Both Jacobs’ have serious concerns about the way their township is operating. They have said many times of their observations,  “What an eye opening event this was! Once our eyes were opened, it is impossible to turn away”. The Jacobs knew that there was a need to get back to basics at the Federal and State levels, but with the discovery of the local level being even worse was too much. It was time to step up to the plate and try to be part of the solution for government as a whole.

WHY VOTE FOR JOHN AND MARIA
Maria and John realize the importance of strong leaders on the Republican Committee. It occurred to them that like most people, they did not even know who their committee people were, or what stand they took within the local government. In fact, they had never been introduced to either the Committeeman OR woman from their district.  Being of like mind that change must occur in Government, they realized that it must start at the Committee Person positions. The Committee people act as a liaison between the voter and the Republican Party. They are the ones that vote to endorse candidates at the Local, County and State Level and they do so by listening to the voters. Just as they were able to get the voices of the concerned citizens heard regarding Eminent Domain, so will they work to get the voices of the township heard when selecting candidates and on important issues for the Republican Party to consider. John and Maria are NOT entrenched politicos, instead, they are just like you, concerned citizens. Concerned on the direction our Government in going at all levels and are driven to bring your concerns to the Republican Party. They care about getting candidates in office that share their Republican values and restoring Conservative values to the Republican Party.

Q&A's About This Year's Election

We have attached the West Vincent Republican Ballot for our District (1). We have attached some Q&A since the Primary Election had a little wrinkle put into it because of a Court challenge.

There was NO Chester County Republican Convention this year. Why?
Every Ten (10) years, after the US Census, there is a requirement to review all districts and adjust them so that all areas of the state are properly represented. Due to a court challenge of the re-redistricting boundaries, the Convention was postponed to await a decision. Too much time passed in waiting for a decision to have the Convention and endorsement process, so the Convention never took place.

What is the purpose of re-districting?
There are changes in population and a District may have more or less population than it had in the previous 10 years. This attempts to balance the districts amount of population so they are all fairly represented.

How does this affect the voter?
The District boundaries have not changed, so the boundaries will stay the same until further notice. The real issue is the lack of endorsement of local candidates such as choices for Representative and Delegate candidates by the Republican Committee.

How does the endorsement process work?
Simplified, the Committee people from the entire county come together and vote for who they feel best represents the Republican Party for each position. Those chosen become the people that have the word "Endorsed" on their literature and signs.

What if INCUMBENT Committee People are giving SAMPLE ballots with highlighted names?
If they are endorsing local candidates, that is on their own. This is a gross misrepresentation since the Chester County Republican Party did no Endorsements for Representative or Delegates. Instead, those Committee people are attempting to influence you to vote for their choices, instead of presenting the collective choice of the Republican Party. The only exception is local Committee People which are never endorsed so they can be recommended locally.

Furthermore, the County Republican Party does not endorse Presidential Candidates. As an example of this misuse one of the endorsements, the District 1 Incumbent Committeeman is promoting is Rick Santorum. While on the ballot, Rick Santorum is no longer a candidate  for the Presidential election.

A side note
Private endorsements are a misleading campaign practice and one of the reasons why we are running for office. We believe that the government cannot change unless new people come into office, displacing the entrenched individuals that feel that they have the right to attempt to manipulate you as they wish, no matter what the rules are. We believe that you, the voter, desire sincere and honest representation and are smart enough to resent this type of practice. We ask for the opportunity for the next two years. Allow us to prove ourselves to you.
